President's Letter

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as WRDA President once again.  I am very enthusiastic about this coming year. The Board, Coordinating Cabinet and some interested members have just put together an exciting program with some new ideas.

This year we hope to strengthen our membership. In an effort to accomplish this we are planning a fun evening in September to welcome returning members and hopefully greet new members.  We invite those who may not be familiar with us to come and see who we are and what we do.  It is always nice to know that we are not alone and others may share similar situations.

As one of ten Districts for the New York State Dietetic Association, WRDA offers continuing education programs at the local level. It is also a means of networking, finding out what others in our profession are doing and thereby making contacts.

Strength is found in numbers.  WRDA can have a major impact on policy making in NY and the US.   As ADA members we are notified of impending legislation via eblasts from ADA.  ADA further facilitates contact with our legislators through Cap Wiz.  Every year NYSDA and ADA sponsor legislative events to increase our visibility and let legislators know who we are.

We are extremely fortunate to have a wonderful new website through the efforts of many.  We are very grateful to those who have worked so hard on our former website and now on our current website.  As the year’s program is developed I invite you to check our calendar for updates.  The website will also advertise job-listings.

In an effort to be “Green” we are trying to be paperless and request that everyone check our website for updates.

The coming year looks very promising.  I am looking forward to seeing you all in September.
